The Lotus symbolically represents ascension and mastery. A lotus is a stunning and beautiful flower which rises above the murky waters of its birthplace and learns to thrive at a new level above the muddy water. Here the lotus takes full advantage of the sun’s nourishing rays. For us this means our ventures and social movements must have the tenacity and strength to successfully travel through that which disturbs them most in order to arrive within a new land with brighter possibilities.
The Phoenix symbolically represents death and rebirth. For us this means, as a society, we must shed ourselves of our old ways of being and doing which no longer work for us and birth ourselves anew from what remains.
